As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday, the Rams are said to be plotting a move for the Rovers right-back.

The 27-year-old played under Eustace during his 12 months as Blackburn boss between February 2024-February 2025, and has been at Ewood Park since his move from Barnsley in the summer of 2022.

However, the former MK Dons man is entering the final year of his contract this summer, but he has maintained his happiness at the club as Rovers look to try and tie down their star full-back for the long-term.

Speaking exclusively with Football League World, we asked Sky Sports pundit and former player, Lee Hendrie: 'Derby County are plotting a move for Blackburn defender Callum Brittain. Thoughts? Do you think John Eustace's pull could be enough to tempt him to Pride Park?'

Hendrie said: "Yes, I actually do feel that John Eustace's pull on getting Callum Brittain would actually be one of the key factors of him making the move, and taking the plunge to go to Derby County.

"Obviously, he's been a key player for Blackburn over the last few seasons, and played a number of games. He's influential in that position where he plays on that far side as a full-back.

"So yes, I do feel that Eustace, having worked with him and known him, will certainly have some influence in making this happen for Derby, and for the signing to be completed."

Callum Brittain would be another excellent signing made by Derby County already this summer

After swapping a play-off push with Blackburn for a relegation fight with Derby in February, Eustace took a huge gamble when making the move to Pride Park.

However, after keeping the Rams in the Championship last term, the club are showing clear signs of ambition in the transfer market already this summer, with Eustace and his staff wasting no time on improving his squad.

Andreas Weimann, Danny Batth, Carlton Morris and veteran goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell have all made moves to the club already this summer, and they look set to bolster their forward line even further with a big-money arrival.

BBC Sport Derby are reporting that the club have agreed a fee with Charlotte FC for striker Patrick Agyemang, with a deal understood to be worth just over £5m, with a further £1.5m in add-ons.

So, adding a proven quality Championship right-back to their squad in the shape of Brittain would be yet another massive statement of intent by the Rams.

Brittain is perhaps one of the most underrated full-backs in the division, and so his arrival would surely provide the Rams with a significant upgrade on the likes of Ryan Nyambe, Kane Wilson and Joe Ward respectively.
