Grimsby Town and Newport County are monitoring Nottingham Forest youngster Julian Larsson, Football League World has been told.
The 21-year-old forward, who joined the Reds a few years ago from Swedish side AIK, has understandably found it tough to get near the first-team at the City Ground, with his minutes coming for their development side, where he has generally impressed.
Therefore, the chance to play competitive football will appeal, and FLW can reveal that League Two pair Grimsby and Newport are keeping tabs on Larsson, who has represented Sweden at various different youth levels.
There is a feeling that he will be able to leave on loan this month and the two clubs are keen on adding more firepower to their squads ahead of the January transfer deadline.
The Mariners have managed just 26 goals from 24 in the current campaign, with more productivity needed if they are to close the gap on the top seven.
Meanwhile, it’s a similar story for the Welsh side, who are averaging less than a goal a game this season and find themselves nervously looking over their shoulder as they’re just six points clear of the relegation zone.
