Speaking exclusively with FLW, Lee Hendrie has been discussing whether a move to Burnley would be a good one for Rovers youngster Kofi Shaw.
Bristol Rovers starlet Kofi Shaw is understood to be attracting interest from Championship automatic promotion hopefuls, Burnley.
Journalist Alan Nixon, reporting via Patreon, has revealed that the Clarets are running the rule over Rovers' 18-year-old midfielder, but they will face a battle for his signature.
Nixon states that Premier League duo Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively, have joined Burnley on multiple scouting missions to watch the youngster in action.
The report reveals that Rovers may indeed decide to cash in on the teenager this summer, but that any final decision may well rest with the player himself.
Shaw was sent out on loan to National League side Yeovil Town in October, but was recalled in February after his impressive displays with the Glovers convinced Gas boss Inigo Calderon that he could play a part in his first-team squad for the remainder of the season.
Speaking exclusively with Football League World, we asked Sky Sports pundit and former player, Lee Hendrie: 'Burnley are weighing up a move for Bristol Rovers star midfielder Kofi Shaw. The 18-year-old is a real talent - could this be a good signing for the Clarets? Should Rovers try and retain their prized asset?'
Hendrie said: "Another rising talent: Kofi Shaw at Bristol Rovers.
"Getting a little bit of game-time, went out on loan to Yeovil Town, and obviously got himself in the frame to start playing a few more games for Bristol Rovers.
"He's certainly got big talent, and a big future ahead of him. I think that Burnley are one of them sides that, for lots of reasons, in the last few seasons when Vincent Kompany was there, he went down the youth route.
"Bringing lots of younger players in, that lots of clubs probably didn't know about. He could be one of them that would certainly fit the bill for Burnley.
"Whether they bring him in and send him back out on loan again, just to get his strength and ready for first-team action. But, I think lots of these younger players these days, and him being one of them, has got talent that certainly is being assessed by lots of football clubs, and Burnley are one of them."
Burnley are certainly a club that have been finding some serious success with their development of young players in recent times.
Luca Koleosho, Maxime Esteve, Bashir Humphreys, CJ Egan-Riley, James Trafford - all of these players are 22 or younger, and have been playing starring roles in Scott Parker's side this season.
Therefore, seeing a club that clearly entrusts young players to come into the first-team squad and play regular football, will surely be a highly attractive proposition to a young talent such as Shaw.
It's direct evidence that should Burnley feel he's good enough, there's a pathway to regular game-time either at Championship or potentially Premier League level in the near future.
As such, should interest from Turf Moor indeed arrive this summer, and given Bristol Rovers have been stagnating in the lower reaches of League One since their promotion from League Two in 2022, Shaw may well find it very tough to turn down an opportunity like that.
