AS Monaco are in competition with recently-promoted Burnley to sign Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir (29), according to a report from L’Équipe.
Monaco have publicly stated that they are in the market for a goalkeeper this summer. Neither Radoslaw Majecki nor Philipp Köhn have sufficiently impressed over the course of the past season. Numerous targets have been identified. One of them was David De Gea, however, he now looks likely to extend his deal at Fiorentina. OGC Nice’s Marcin Bulka and Djordje Petrovic, who spent last season on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace from Chelsea, have also been linked.
Çakir is the latest to be linked with a move to the Principality club. However, they must face competition from Burnley, who currently lead the race and have been working on a deal for several weeks. Some of the top clubs in Turkey are also interested, however, Trabzonspor are looking to avoid selling him to a domestic rival.
