FC Barcelona are seemingly making big plans for the summer, being linked with a number of players to reinforce the squad. The club has all but finalised the signing of Joan Garcia from Espanyol and are also working towards the signing of Nico Williams.

However, for a club like Barcelona that is just coming out of a financial crisis, it might mean that they also have to sell to ensure they don’t fall behind the eight-ball again. Thus, the club needs to decide which players they are willing to let go of.

Sources have informed Sempre Barca that Barcelona have placed talented Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen on the transfer list to ease the financial burden this summer. Hansi Flick is willing to part ways with him ahead of the next season.

Sempre Barca have learnt that several Saudi Pro League clubs, including Neom SC, Al-Shabab, and Al-Nassr, have shown interest in Christensen. These clubs are willing to offer around €20m, but the player would prefer to continue his career in Europe.

Subsequently, there are clubs in Europe who are also interested in the 29-year-old. Juventus, Tottenham, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Brentford have all been presented with the opportunity to sign the Danish defender.

Sempre Barca understands that Barcelona are expecting offers in the range of €20m to €25m to part ways with Christensen this summer, although market conditions might force them to accept a much lower fee in the coming weeks.

Barcelona falling on the right side of FFP

Having signed him on a free transfer, moving the ex-Chelsea defender on for a fee could help Barcelona in terms of FFP. It is important for the Catalan club to make the necessary room to register potential new signings.

Christensen missed much of the 2024/25 season through injury but made a resounding comeback towards the end of the campaign. That said, to move to the next level, Barcelona should not be afraid to chop off an arm to save the body, and let’s wait and see how this transfer saga plays out going forward.
