Liverpool may have missed out on one La Liga-based target but appears they could be edging closer towards landing another as The Reds eye up a move to land Valencia and Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

We spoke to Georgian Journalist, Lasha Kokiashvili to get the latest on the possible move for the 23-year-old giant who was described to us as ‘outstanding’ by European football expert Kevin Hatchard just yesterday.

“€4M CONTRACT HAS BEEN AGREED!” – THE LATEST ON LIVERPOOL’S MOVE FOR GIORGI MAMARDASHVILI

Lasha said: “Valencia always asked for €40 million for Mamardashvili (fewer bonuses and more direct money as possible), this was their demand from day one. Giorgi had an amazing Euro 2024, so Valencia is logically asking for a big sum for the 23-year-old player.

“We are waiting for Valencia’s official response to the new offer (we are talking about €35 million), but I think they will ask for several million more.

“Giorgi really wants to move to Liverpool. He always wanted to play in the Premier League. He also agrees to transfer on loan to another team.

“A loan stay in Valencia is also considered, but finances will be crucial here. It also remains to be seen how Liverpool plans to buy him and then loan him to a Premier League team because as far as I know, this is not possible by FA rules (buying a player in one transfer window and loaning him elsewhere in the Premier League). Maybe Giorgi can go to Bournemouth on a direct loan and after 1 or 2 years transfer to Liverpool (if a preliminary agreement is made, many details will depend on finances. Here, a lot will depend on the clubs, as well as on finances.).

“Giorgi is looking for a new challenge, Liverpool and the Premier League means moving to the next level for him. I think Mamardashvili is a few million away from Liverpool.”

Lasha reaffirmed to us that ‘Mamardashvili wants to move to Liverpool’ and sees this deal as a strong opportunity to take his career to the next level.

This would appear to make some semblance of sense, albeit potentially hinging on what happens next when it comes to the future of Caoimhin Kelleher.

Many may expect the Irish stopper to move on sooner rather than later having waited patiently behind the brilliant Alisson Becker for a number of seasons already, with the Brazilian’s longer-term future at Anfield also coming into question amidst these reports.

Both goalkeepers have been phenomenal in their own rights for The Reds, but, Mamardashvili looks to be among the next best in world football and securing his services now would undoubtedly be a smart move from the club.
