This evening, Marko Arnautovic will return to the Stadio Dall’Ara for the first time since leaving Bologna to join Inter Milan.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Arnautovic’s departure from Bologna to join Inter last summer was certainly a surprise transfer.

The Austrian had seemed fairly settled at the Rossoblu. He had remained their talisman in attack.

But when Inter came calling, it proved too big of an opportunity for Arnautovic to pass up.

The former Stoke City and West Ham United had the opportunity to join a team playing in the Champions League and pushing for the Serie A title.

That move came as the reward for Arnautovic’s impressive form in two seasons at Bologna.

The veteran striker certainly made his mark in Emilia-Romagna. Particularly in his first campaign with the Rossoblu, Arnautovic had shown that he can be a devastating player in Serie A.

Arnautovic looked like a much different player in those two seasons than he had during his single season on loan at Inter early on during his career.

And it is this that convinced the Nerazzurri to bring back the now-much more mature Arnautovic for a second go.

Marko Arnautovic To Return To Bologna With Inter

Arnautovic has not been an integral player in attack for Inter as he had been for Bologna.

On the contrary, the 34-year-old has been much more of a rotation option in attack.

But Arnautovic has had his say on a few occasions this season. He has managed to make an impact most notably with his goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

This evening, Arnautovic has every chance of playing, whether it is from the start or the bench.

And the Austrian will be back at the Dall’Ara as an opponent after lighting up the stadium as a Bologna player for two seasons.

It is fair to say that Bologna have weathered the loss of their main man in attack well.

Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as a new attacking talisman for the Emilians. And the team as a whole have been in flying form as they push for a Champions League spot.
