Borussia Dortmund forward Sebastien Haller has rejected the chance to join Fulham on loan for the remainder of the season.

Fulham made an enquiry into Haller’s availability on Wednesday evening as the West Londoners look to sign a striker before the deadline.

Marco Silva’s side sold Aleksandar Mitrovic to the Saudi Pro League in the summer and are targeting reinforcements to their forward line before the window’s closure.

The Athletic are reporting that Fulham made an approach to sign Haller on loan from Dortmund and were granted permission to speak to the 29-year-old. The Ivory Coast international has struggled for minutes at Dortmund this season and has started just four Bundesliga games.

However, Haller has rejected the chance to return to the Premier League after a disappointing spell at West Ham. Haller joined the Hammers in a then-club record deal worth £45m in 2019, but scored just 10 league goals in 48 appearances.

Haller departed West Ham to join Ajax after just 18 months at the London Stadium and scored 47 times in 66 games for the Dutch outfit, before his move to Dortmund.

Haller’s career with Dortmund was halted immediately after his arrival in Germany, as he underwent chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a malignant testicular tumour. He has scored 11 times in 36 games since his return to health and fitness.
