Former Sheffield United shot-stopper Simon Moore is being linked with a move to Sunderland, where he will act as back-up for current Blades transfer target Anthony Patterson, this is according to a report from Alan Nixon.

The 34-year-old made zero appearances in all competitions for Coventry City last season and he will leave the Sky Blues this summer once his contract expires at the end of this month.

Moore was instrumental in United’s quick rise under Chris Wilder back in the 2016/17 League One campaign, where he helped Sheffield United accumulate 100 points.

Throughout his four years at the club, Moore would make 70 appearances in all competitions, keeping 23 clean sheets.

The Blades have a goalkeeping conundrum themselves and they certainly wouldn’t hurt their depth between the sticks by bringing in an experienced Championship stopper like Moore, and he is still a beloved name among the Blades faithful.

And while Moore would like a Bramall Lane reunion, unfortunately Chris Wilder’s hands are tied at the moment due to this proposed takeover which is with the EFL at this moment in time. Previous reports have stated negotiations with free agents Alan Browne and Gabriel Osho have both stalled. With that in mind, there should be an update in the next few weeks regarding the outcome.
