Current agent and former Palermo defender Beppe Accardi has argued that Inter are the strongest team in Serie A, despite their difficult start to the season.
The Nerazzurri currently sit in fifth place and went into the final round of fixtures before the World Cup break 11 points behind leaders Napoli, ahead of tomorrow’s match against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium.
Despite their troubles, Accardi felt that coach Simone Inzaghi had the best squad in the league at his disposal, but his side needed to find their rhythm again, in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com.
“For me, Inter are the strongest team in the league. They need to find each other and have more self-confidence, these are the moments that teams need to support each other,” he claimed.
Accardi also argued that Juventus were out of the running after an equally difficult start, whilst he was confident that Napoli would finally win the Scudetto for the first time since 1990.
“Despite the latest results, it seems difficult for Juve to compete for the title, but they can compete for the top four. It seems to me that it may be the right year for Napoli.”
Since retiring from playing, the 58-year-old has worked as an agent within football and felt that the upcoming World Cup would have an impact on transfers, whilst also suggesting that Napoli wouldn’t need to dip into the market in January to sustain their title push.
“Napoli don’t need to do anything in the window, they just have to hope that everything goes well after the World Cup.
“We need to understand what happens at the World Cup. Making any predictions now would be misleading in view of the January transfer window,” he concluded.
