Midfielder Piotr Zielinski will undergo medical tests today, with Inter Milan hoping the Pole hasn’t sustained an injury on international duty.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter midfielder Zielinski has had a bit of an injury scare over the international break.

The 30-year-old started both of Poland’s matches during the break. They faced Portugal and Croatia in Nations League clashes.

Zielinski opened the scoring for Poland in a 3-3 draw against Croatia.

However, that match also saw the Inter midfielder have to come off the pitch during the second half.

The reason for the substitution appeared to be partly injury-related.

Zielinski appeared to feel some discomfort in his hamstring as he limped off the pitch.

Naturally, this presents a bit of a worry for Inter. The international break can often be a frustrated time as players return to their club duties carrying knocks after playing in the international fixtures.

And Zielinski looks to be one of the main fitness concerns among Inter’s squad this time around.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter midfielder Zielinski will undergo medical tests.

This will be to understand whether the Pole has suffered a muscle injury in his hamstring, or was just dealing with a bit of muscular fatigue.

Naturally, Inter will be hoping that Zielinski has not sustained a serious injury.

That could very well potentially rule the 30-year-old former Napoli midfielder out for a couple of weeks easily.

Therefore, Zielinski would not only be at risk of missing Sunday’s return to Serie A action against Roma.

Inter also have matches against Young Boys in the Champions League and Juventus in the league on the away.

If Zielinski is available, then he would certainly be expected to participate in those matches. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be looking to rotate his squad.

On the other hand, if Zielinski is out, Inzaghi will have to rely even more on Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Davide Frattesi.
