Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez has earned praise for a classy performance in yesterday’s Serie A win over Lecce.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the Chilean’s display with a 7.5/10 score in the player ratings for the match.

Sanchez got a relatively rare opportunity to start yesterday evening.

The 34-year-old has been firmly behind Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in the pecking order this season.

But Thuram was out with a muscle injury. Therefore, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi was ready to give Sanchez his chance to shine.

And it was an opportunity that the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona veteran took with aplomb.

Alexis Sanchez Shines In Inter Serie A Win Vs Lecce

Sanchez did not manage to get on the scoresheet at the Via del Mare.

That means that the 34-year-old’s wait for a league goal in his second stint at Inter goes on. He has scored just once for the club this season, against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

But Sanchez did just about everything but score.

The Chilean did grab an assist. He did very well to receive the ball in the penalty area and pick out midfielder Davide Frattesi for Inter’s second goal.

That was a key goal in the context of the match.

It was that goal which really allowed the Nerazzurri some breathing room after Lecce had sustained some pressure early in the second half.

And aside from the assist, there were many sparkling moments from Sanchez.

The 34-year-old showed that he has plenty left in the tank. He relished the opportunity to run at the Lecce backline.

Sanchez’s ability to receive the ball and turn in tight space proved invaluable to Inter keeping the ball up the pitch all throughout the match.

And the Chilean also showed his creative passing on many more occasions than just his assist for Frattesi.
