Gerardo Seoane has been appointed the new Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach after the dismissal of Daniel Farke.

Gladbach relieved Farke of his duties last week after his sole season in charge ended with a tenth-placed finish.

“Gerardo Seoane has worked different jobs successfully in recent years,” said Gladbach chief Roland Zirkus.

“He is young but already very experienced, he fits the way we see football, and we’re excited to have him here at BBorussia Mönchengladbach.”

Seoane won three consecutive Swiss Super League titles in charge of Young Boys finished third in his sole Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen in 2021/22 but was sacked in October last year with just one win from the opening eight games of the 2022/23 campaign.

Gladbach also announced Nils Schmadtke, formerly head of scouting at Wolfsburg, as the club’s new sporting director.
