Former Inter defender Marco Andreolli believes that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is correct to argue that yesterday’s loss to Roma was the team’s most painful of the season so far.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, Andreolli agreed with the coach’s assessment that yesterday’s loss was a bitter pill to swallow especially because the Nerazzurri had for the most part played well.

Inter needed not just a performance to show that they were getting over their early-season slump in form, but also a result.

In this respect, the loss to the Giallorossi was a real mixed bag, as they were hardly overrun as they had been against Udinese before the international break, but this mattered little in the end.

The Nerazzurri had to accept defeat for the fourth time in just eight Serie A matches, and face that even if they do everything they can to improve how they play, they still can’t seem to buy a win at the moment.

“The coach assessed it in an honest and I’d say correct way,” Andreolli said after the match. “This is the loss that hurts the most so far, because it actually came after their best performance.”
