Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has hit out at his successor Joan Laporta.

Laporta and his team have been highly critical of Bartomeu's regime since taking over at the Camp Nou, particularly in relation to financial matters.

In response to the figures presented by Barcelona last week, together with further criticisms of the previous board's management, Bartomeu has released a statement defending himself and blaming the current board.

"The club lost a minimum of 330 million euros in income in the 2020/21 season thanks to the pandemic," said Bartomeu's statement.

"The board which ended the season is the only one responsible for the financial results.

"In no way and at no time was the Club ever at any risk of liquidation or folding."
