Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits that Inter Milan are “making life difficult” for themselves after their 3-2 Serie A win over Torino.

The Nerazzurri midfielder spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s clash with the Granata. He acknowledged the need for improvement.

Inter did take three points against Torino yesterday evening.

However, the Nerazzurri certainly didn’t do it the easy way.

It looked as though it would be a relatively routine win for Inter after they scored their second goal.

Being 2-0 up and with a man advantage, the Nerazzurri were certainly in a commanding position.

But then, Torino immediately got a goal back to get themselves back in the game. This was truthfully the result of some sloppy defending by Inter, who simply switched off.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: “Inter Making Life Difficult For Ourselves”

Yesterday was not the first time that Inter have had to see out a nervy finish to a match in which they’d largely dominated.

It was a similar story against Udinese last weekend.

Like against Torino, Inter allowed the Friulani back into the match twice, including late in the contest.

Mkhitaryan admitted that against Torino, “After we scored the second goal we eased up a bit.”

“After the kickoff, when Torino got the ball forward, we conceded a goal that we shouldn’t have,” he continued.

“We let themselves back into the match and caused problems for ourselves.”

Mkhitarayn then said that “In the second half we improved.”

“We moved the ball quickly in possession. We created a lot of chances and we finally found the goal.”

“Then we thought we’d finished it off,” Mkhitarayn said.

“But then we allowed them to open it back up with the penalty for 3-2, which caused us problems.”

“We’re happy with the win,” said the Armenian. “But there’s still a lot of work to do.”

“I’ve already said that there are aspects we have to improve on,” Mkhitaryan said. “Because last season we didn’t give many opportunities to our opposition.”

“This season we’ve been allowing them more space, and more chances to score.”

“We need to improve,” Mkhitaryan made clear. “Not just in the defensive position, but the whole team defensively.”
