Everton’s teenage goalkeeper Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir has joined Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official website.

The 18-year-old joined Everton from Icelandic club Fylkir last summer and she signed a three-year deal on Merseyside but she spent the remainder of 2021 on loan at Swedish club KIF Örebro DFF.

It has today been confirmed that Rúnarsdóttir will continue her development away from her parent club with the young keeper now having joined German giants Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the season.

Rúnarsdóttir started out as a goalkeeper at the age of 10 with Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur before moving to Afturelding/Fram where she started her senior career. In 2017, she helped the Icelandic club to the third tier title before she was named the Young Player of the Year in the second tier the following season. In late 2018, the player joined newly-promoted Icelandic top flight club Fylkir and she went on to star in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, picking up another Young Player of the Year accolade in the process.

Everton are thought to have been monitoring the development of Rúnarsdóttir closely for a lengthy period before signing her last summer. The player is very much one for the future and she should learn some important lessons whilst on loan at Bayern Munich.
