Marco Silva’s tenure as Everton manager began with an astonishing 22-0 (TWENTY TWO NIL!) victory over ATV Irdning on Saturday.

Goals from Cenk Tosun (4), Michael Keane, Leighton Baines, Ademola Lookman (3), Kevin Mirallas (5), Oumar Niasse (4), Nikola Vlašić (2), Mason Holgate and an own goal gave the Toffees an emphatic win over their Austrian seventh division opponents in front of a reported 750 spectators.

The goalkeeper literally gave up at 19-0.

ATV Irdning are so far down the football pyramid that they don’t even have a Wikipedia page and you have to wonder whether this friendly was actually a worthwhile exercise from Everton’s perspective.

Some of the reactions on social media were quite funny, though.

In other pre-season friendly news, Unai Emery’s life as Arsenal manager began with an 8-0 thumping of Boreham Wood, while Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by League Two Bury.
