New Everton manager Frank Lampard faces a big challenge keeping Richarlison at Goodison Park, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old was reportedly of interest to Paris Saint-Germain last summer, and Jones believes Lampard has the task of trying to convince him to snub clubs like the French giants in the summer.

What has been said about Richarlison in the past?

Goal reported last August that PSG had made contact with Richarlison over a potential move as they prepared themselves for the loss of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.

In the end, though, Mbappe remained at the Parc des Princes, meaning the Ligue 1 outfit did not need to bring in another attacker like Richarlison.

However, with the 2018 World Cup winner out of contract in the summer and a move to Madrid still possible, PSG could quickly find themselves looking at Everton’s Brazilian forward again.

And given where the two clubs currently are, you would expect Richarlison to find a transfer to Mauricio Pochettino’s side more than appealing.

What has Jones said about Richarlison’s Everton future?

Jones thinks Lampard has a real task on his hands trying to keep Richarlison at Everton, with the football journalist telling GIVEMESPORT that the £49.5m-rated Brazil international actually sees this as his last season with the club.

Speaking to GMS, Jones said: “One of Lampard’s big challenges will be to keep Richarlison. I’ve been informed for a while that he sees this as his last season at Everton and the talks he had with PSG at the end of the last summer transfer window were pretty detailed.

“Everton need a big few months to convince him to stay – replacing him would be a mammoth task.”

Can Everton afford to lose Richarlison?

No. He is a player that they have to hold on to, with the former Watford man getting off to a fine start in the Lampard era after scoring in the impressive 4-1 FA Cup win against Brentford last weekend.

In general, Richarlison is someone Everton look to for goals; he scored 28 times in all competitions in the last two seasons combined. As Jones said, replacing that could be a mammoth task.

Even with Richarlison’s threat in attack, the Toffees have found themselves caught up in a relegation battle this term, so to sell him or Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer could prove catastrophic.

If PSG do come knocking, though, it may be hard for the Everton star to say no, which would then give the Goodison Park hierarchy a decision to make.
