Everton ‘make first offer’ for towering Serie A striker ideal for Dyche; there is ‘belief’ a deal will happen | OneFootball

Everton have reportedly made a fresh offer to sign Udinese striker Beto this summer, with a deal for Southampton’s Che Adams now in doubt.

The Toffees scored just 34 Premier League goals last season, which was the key reason why they came close to being relegated for the first time since 1951.

Dyche is determined to avoid a similar fate this term and has already brought in Youssef Chermiti (£15m), Jack Harrison (loan) and Arnaut Danjuma (loan) to add more goals to his side.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently sidelined with yet another injury and given Neal Maupay has scored just once in 31 appearances so far, Everton are desperate to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes. They have very little money to spend on new players, however.

Their financial situation worsened on Wednesday when it was revealed by the Athletic that MSP Sports Capital’s talks to purchase a minority stake in the club had collapsed.

As a result, Everton can only afford to offer small down payments for new signings. That is why a move for Southampton striker Adams has stalled.

They are now considering a move for Beto, who was first linked with the Toffees in January. They may struggle to meet his price tag too, though.

According to Sky Italia, Everton have made their ‘first offer’ for Beto, believed to be in the region of  €25m plus €5m in bonuses (£21.4m + £4.3m).

This has not satisfied Udinese, however, who are demanding the Toffees meet Beto’s release clause of €35m (£30m). Negotiations over the deal ‘are continuing’ behind the scenes and there is a ‘belief’ the striker could end up in the Premier League this season.

Beto scored 10 goals in the Serie A for Udinese last season and it’s thought that his agents are working hard on finding him a new club.

Standing at 6ft4, the Portuguese striker is an imposing figure on the pitch and could work well as a target man, something that Dyche utilised effectively during his time with Burnley.

He could prove to be an excellent investment for Everton if he can score the goals to keep them in the Premier League.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if the Merseyside club can increase their offer and agree a fee for Beto in the next few days.
