Everton are in advanced talks about a deal for Ghanaian striker Andre Ayew, according to the Independent.

The Toffees have left it late in their pursuit of attacking options and are hoping to land the 33-year-old.

Everton have been hamstrung due to a limited budget, which has frustrated their transfer plans.

Ayew is a free agent, having terminated his contract with Qatar Stars League club Al-Sadd a few days ago.

As a result, the Goodison Park club can sign him even after the January transfer window shuts.

They are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after losing Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United.

Signing Ayew will not appeal to many Everton fans, but he has much-needed experience.

He featured for Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring in their 3-2 loss to Portugal in the group stage.

Ayew is a short-term option at best, but he could prove crucial in the Toffees’ relegation battle.

He scored 33 Championship goals and assisted another 11 for Swansea City across the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

Ayew played Premier League football between 2015 and 2018, bagging 21 goals and nine assists.

The former West Ham United man knows what it takes to find the back of the net. He is no longer in his prime, but he remains a nuisance to defenders.

Everton need a hardworking attacker given manager Sean Dyche’s style of play. Ayew fits the bill, and it is not surprising they are considering him.

He holds on to the ball well and always puts in a lot of defensive contributions up front.

The former Marseille star is an excellent dribbler, passer and finisher, and handing him a six-month deal could help keep Everton up.
