Everton want a new striker to bolster their survival mission under new manager Sean Dyche.

However, Southampton are not interested in selling Adams today, with very little time left to sort out a replacement.

The 26-year-old has scored four goals and claimed two assists in 19 league games this term.

Adams is the Saints’ second-highest goalscorer, and losing him right now could be catastrophic.

He has also registered four goals in four Carabao Cup games this season.

Southampton are rock bottom of the Premier League table, with just four victories recorded in 20 games.

There are only two points between them and safety, and securing survival is very feasible.

Therefore , selling Adams to one of their relegation rivals would not make any sense.

Everton will pull out all the stops to land a new striker today.

Whether they will succeed with a deadline move for the Southampton ace remains to be seen.

The Scottish striker scored 20 league goals and assisted ten others in his first three seasons with the Saints.

Without a doubt, having him would make Everton’s attack better, but getting him would prove herculean.

They cannot risk putting all their eyes in one basket. They have other strikers on their radar and should not hesitate to go after realistic targets.

The clock is ticking and Everton cannot afford to waste time in the coming hours.
