Everton are weighing up a summer move for Manchester City and England outcast Kalvin Phillips, according to Sky Sports.

The Toffees are considering a loan move for the 28-year-old, whose future at the Etihad Stadium remains uncertain after an abysmal spell at West Ham United.

Phillips spent the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium but only made ten appearances for the Hammers.

His nightmare home debut against Bournemouth, where a misplaced pass gifted Dominic Solanke a goal, marked the start of a troubled spell in East London.

David Moyes championed the signing of the England international in a bid to bolster his midfield options, but Phillips failed to repay the manager’s faith.

Phillips has also been linked with a return to Leeds United this summer.

He established himself at Elland Road, making 234 appearances for Leeds while chipping in with 14 goals and 13 assists over a seven-year spell with the first team.

For a midfielder yearning to rediscover his confidence, a return to familiar territory would be ideal.

However, Leeds’ Championship play-off final defeat to Southampton weakens their position and potentially hands Everton an advantage in the race to sign Phillips.

Man City are eager to cut him loose this summer, but Everton’s move for the midfielder will undoubtedly divide the fans, given his troubles in Manchester and London.

With the Everton takeover saga unresolved and finances tight at Goodison Park, Director of Football Kevin Thelwell and manager Sean Dyche seem willing to take a calculated risk on Phillips.

The Toffees could also be gearing up for a potential departure for Amadou Onana, who has attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Everton are also in discussions with Leeds regarding extending Jack Harrison’s loan deal.

The 27-year-old winger notched four goals and three assists in 35 appearances and is keen to remain at Goodison Park.
