Everton FC and defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye (35) are closing in on an agreement to continue their collaboration. Foot Mercato understands that the Senegal international is keen to stay on Merseyside, and the feeling is mutual. Indeed, the Toffees have reportedly offered Gueye a contract extension. The former PSG midfielder was a target for promoted Ligue 1 side Paris FC, who would have liked to sign Gueye as a free agent, given his Everton contract expires next month.
Gueye rejoined Everton in 2022 following his spell in the French capital. He put pen to paper over a two-year contract. Everton then exercised a club option to retain Gueye’s services for a further year. The outlet adds that an agreement is now at the final stages between Gueye and Everton, with talks progressing amicably between both parties. The defensive midfielder featured 40 times last season in all competitions for the Toffees.
