Everton are ‘bidding hard’ to sign Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal in January with the former Bournemouth star keen on an exit from the Spanish side.

Danjuma was in stunning form for Villarreal last term, scoring ten goals in 23 La Liga games and six in the Champions League on their way to the semi-finals.

But Unai Emery’s successor Quique Setien has limited Danjuma’s game time since his arrival at the club in October and the 25-year-old now reportedly ‘wants to leave’.

That’s according to El Periódico Mediterráneo, who also claim Everton have shown ‘most interest’ and ‘bid hard’ to land the forward, who’s valued at £43m.

Frank Lampard’s side are looking to take Danjuma on loan with a non-mandatory buy option and ‘this formula satisfies all parties involved’.

Villarreal need to balance their books and would benefit from Danjuma being off their wage bill, while Everton and Danjuma wouldn’t be tied together if the move doesn’t work out.

Lampard is under huge pressure at Goodison Park with the hierarchy reportedly considering his future.

“I will never and would never seek reassurances,” Lampard said. “It’s part of my job to focus on the job in hand, day to day, game to game. I don’t need reassurances. I come to work to try to improve a bit every day – myself, the team, the squad and everything.

“I’m not hunting around for any reassurances.”

Lampard added that the club’s league position was not his immediate concern, saying he was focused on a longer-term process.

“If we win the next league games, we’ll be out of the bottom three probably,” he said. “It’s part of the process. I’m very aware of what I came in to do in this job. I want to be a success at this club.

“Any challenges that come along, then I’ll take them on and actually enjoy them.

“I enjoy working for this club, it’s a real honour for me. That’s why I say ‘I don’t need reassurances’. I’m a big man working for a great club and I’ll keep doing it.”
