In a recent tweet, journalist Ignazio Genuardi revealed that Everton are showing interest in Olympique Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye this winter. It has been stated that the Toffees could face competition in the form of Crystal Palace and Sheffield United in the race to land the Senegalese talent.

Ndiaye’s Inconsistent Record In French Football

Ndiaye is having an inconsistent campaign at the French club as he has struggled to be productive for them on the offensive end of the field. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 23 appearances for Marseille this season across all competitions.

The Senegalese striker has caught the eye at times in the opposition half based on his average of 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the final third after completing 81.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Marseille will expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Toffees to win the race for him before the end of this ongoing transfer window.

Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Ndiaye?

Ndiaye is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball. However, the Senegalese sensation has to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opposition goal.

However, there is no denying that Everton can use someone of Ndiaye’s skillset to enhance the quality of their attack this January. He is good enough to rival Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto for a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club over the next few years.

At 23, the future looks quite bright for Ndiaye as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, the Toffees should consider going for him before the end of this transfer window as he could help them steer clear of the Premier League’s relegation battle in the second half of this campaign.
