In a recent edition of Transfer Talk, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth claimed that Everton are close to sealing a move for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma. It is believed that the Toffees are hoping to finalize a loan deal to sign the Dutch speedster this weekend.

Danjuma’s Lackluster Loan Spell At Tottenham Hotspur Last Season

Danjuma had an uneventful loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur last season when he put in a couple of decent displays but struggled to be consistent for them in the final third. The 26-year-old scored two goals in 12 matches for Spurs in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The Lagos-born wide player made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he only averaged 0.7 shots, 0.1 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even a bit sloppy with his ball distribution on the attacking end of the pitch after making just 68.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at his parent club Villarreal will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to arrange a loan move for Danjuma in this off-season.

Will Danjuma Be A Good Signing For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?

Danjuma can use his pace to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks when he is playing regularly on the pitch. He can shoot the ball well from long range but needs to work on improving his productivity in the final third.

The Dutch talent is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a left-winger or as a centre-forward up top if asked to do so by his manager.

Danjuma will add more pace to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular starting place at the Merseyside club next season.

At 26, Danjuma is about to enter his prime and could help the Toffees stay out of relegation danger in the upcoming Premier League campaign. However, he is yet to prove his worth as a consistent performer in English football which makes him a risky option for Everton to pursue during this summer transfer window.
