Bayern Munich remain keen on signing Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi

A report by Daily Mail mentions that Bayern Munich are still interested in signing Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Bundesliga side earlier made a ‘huge loan offer’ with an option to purchase Hudson-Odoi for £70million. This was, of course, rejected by the Blues.

The Bavarian club’s interest in the 20-year-old winger is not new-found. Hudson-Odoi exploded onto the scene in 2018 and impressed in his first season for the Blues.

Immediately, he was subject to interest from Bayern Munich. Chelsea did well to tie him down to a new contract that sees him stay at the club until the summer of 2024.

But now, it is reported that Bayern are still not willing to call off their pursuit of the winger. The German club are said to be monitoring the playing time he is getting under Frank Lampard this season. (h/t Daily Mail)

Hudson-Odoi has made a decent number of appearances this season despite having fitness issues. The Englishman has appeared 16 times this season for Chelsea, scoring 5 and assisting 2 goals in that time.

More to come in the future

The 20-year-old would, however, be looking to get more starts as the season enters into the second half. Just 8 of his 16 appearances for Chelsea have been in the starting XI, with just 2 of those coming in the Premier League.

Hudson-Odoi is one of the brightest prospects at the club. The maturity in his game at such a young age signals that he can get even better in the future.

Losing him to a big European club like Bayern Munich would be a blow for the Blues. Hudson-Odoi is already in the fray to be a starter at Chelsea.
