The Ethiopian Premier League has been suspended indefinitely after a referee was savagely attacked for allowing a controversial goal.
All matches have been cancelled after an official was chased and then beaten up by Welwalo Adigrat players for allowing the goal against Defense.
With the scoreline level at 1-1, the Welwalo goalkeeper fumbled the ball, seemingly, over the line.
That was the cue for the players to start lambasting the referee before pandemonium ensued.
The game was then abandoned and all other matches were in the league were called off, as there had been several instances of violence in the Ethiopian game recently.
Federation officials will meet the league’s 16 teams on Thursday.
