Manchester City striker Erling Haaland told Francesco Acerbi to “f*** off” after the Inter defender made a strange full-time request at the Etihad Stadium.

The 24-year-old had a frustrating evening in front of goal against the Italian giants, registering just 14 touches on the ball in what was the lowest tally of any player on the pitch in the opening league phase game for both teams.

The Champions League finalists of 2023 played out somewhat of an entertaining 0-0 draw in front of a packed Etihad Stadium, but were forced to share the points with 21 still to grab in their remaining seven league phase matches.

Upon the full-time whistle at the Etihad Stadium on matchday one of the brand new league phase in the UEFA Champions League, Inter defender Francesco Acerbi made the cheeky request of asking Erling Haaland for two of his Manchester City match shirts.

In typical Erling Haaland style, the Norwegian international appeared to double check whether the question was right from the Inter defender, before responding with, “F*** off” in a hilarious moment caught by broadcaster cameras.

Erling Haaland will be hoping for better fortunes in front of goal when he and his Manchester City teammates return to action on Sunday afternoon, with Arsenal the visitors in Premier League action.

The Norway international is also just one goal away from his 100th in a Manchester City shirt, despite only having played 104 matches to date for the club, having started the new campaign in remarkable goalscoring form.

Haaland’s tally of nine goals in his opening four Premier League matches meant Wednesday night had the opportunity to beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of being the fastest player to score 100 goals for a single club, with the Portuguese achieving the feat in 105 appearances for Real Madrid in 2011.
