The scintillating start to the campaign being enjoyed by Manchester City star Erling Haaland has put the Norwegian in a position to surpass what previously looked a near-unbreakable record, set by Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Frontman Haaland, for his part, is fresh off another stellar individual display.
Featuring from the off in Manchester City’s Premier League meeting with West Ham United, the 24-year-old notched all three of his side’s goals, en route to a 3-1 triumph.
This took Haaland’s tally for the campaign to seven goals, in just three appearances.
Not only that, but it guided the former Borussia Dortmund standout within touching distance of the most remarkable of goalscoring records.
As per statisticians StatMuse, the fastest player to ever reach 100 goals for a single club was Cristiano Ronaldo with Real Madrid.
The Portuguese needed just 105 games to reach the century mark in Blancos colours.
Haaland, though, could yet manage the same, in fewer appearances…
To date in his Man City career, the explosive striker has found the back of the net 97 times, in 102 games.
This means that, if Haaland can notch three more goals across his next two appearances, he will break Ronaldo’s long-standing record.
And, based on current form, as much certainly cannot be ruled out…
