Eric said: "He is a great player. He has incredible talent. He is capable of playing in various positions. He is one of these little players, of whom there are fewer and fewer. He's a player I have a lot of love for as a person and above all a lot of admiration for what he does on the pitch.

"At Barça I have always said that the best players have to be there and it is clear that Bernardo is one of them. But well, I don't know how long he has a contract in Manchester and things are which I can no longer enter."

Chelsea pair Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are others on Barca's agenda.

Eric continued: "They are two incredible professionals, very hard-working. They have a lot of experience in this and are of a very high level. They show it when they come to the national team and also at Chelsea, where they are undisputed starters. Two top-level players."

Finally, regarding Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, Eric said, "He is a world reference striker. Both at Bayern and with his national team, he has been making a difference for a long time. I don't know what will happen to his future but he's clearly a great striker.

"What could he bring? All the qualities that everyone sees when he plays. Above all, he's a striker, his goalscoring figures for Bayern are unbelievable. But, well, I don't know what will be of his future. We'll see."
