Spurs had most shots inside the box. They failed to score any goal with the keeper being equal to all their attempts on target. They took a few shots from distance as well but were wide off target. xT timeline shows that the game was equally distributed between both the teams for the majority of it. West Ham looked threatening at times and scored a goal towards the last quarter of an hour while Tottenham did not pose such threat at all. The only goal was decisive enough to seal a victory for the hosts. West Ham had 40% of possession with Aaron Cresswell playing the most passes(61) while receiving the most with 38 as well. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg attempted 99 passes and Eric Dier received the most with 86, while Spurs had 60% of the ball. Tottenham played most of the passes in the central midfield, playing a lot of smart passes, the majority of them being hugely unsuccessful. A strong performance at the back mixed with a poor one upfront summed up their aerial battles. The match was very evenly balanced between both the sides. With a safety-first measure, both teams played after securing a strong defence at the back.
