Ferretti is only the interim boss of El Tri and was set to leave the set-up after the next international break in November.

The 64-year-old was due to go back to his day job at UNAL and retake the reins of Tigres – a job he’s been doing for eight years.

Meza though, insists that the Federation should try and force ‘Tuca’ to remain for the next World Cup qualification process.

“I would, I would try and force Tuca to stay,” he told reporters.

“We all want to try and get past the last 16 of the World Cup and Tuca, I believe, is the man to do it.

“With all his experience and the way he gets the best out of quality players, I think Tuca is the best option for the national team.”
