Inter Miami did its homework and qualified for the semifinals of the Leagues Cup after defeating Tigres 2-1. Finally, Javier Mascherano designed a game plan that worked to perfection.
Without Lionel Messi on the field, one assumed the Herons were about to suffer against a tough team like Tigres. However, Miami’s execution proved otherwise.
For the first time in a long time, all the players performed at a similar level.
Initially, Inter Miami appeared comfortable. Tigres didn’t have possession of the ball, and the Herons were flying.
Miami had luck that the referee gave them two penalty kicks. Because, even though the Herons had possession, their attacks didn’t carry that much danger.
Despite the enormous victory, like any other game, there are players who had an outstanding game and those who struggled.
That’s why these are InterHerons winners and losers from the victory against Tigres.
Luis Suarez: Once again, Suarez appeared in the crucial moments and saved the Herons from going into the penalty shootout. The Uruguayan striker is still the most decisive player when Messi is not on the pitch.
With his constant pressure and calm on the box, Suarez, on this part of the season, became the lethal weapon we all knew.
Ian Fray: A surprise. Before his injury, Fray competed toe to toe with Suarez for who got the best performance. Fast to attack and solid on defense, the right-back owned the right side of the field and was always a threat for Tigres.
