The tournament gets underway on 6 July when England take on Austria in front of a near-74,000 crowd at Old Trafford.
The final England squad was announced by head coach Sarina Wiegman 11 days’ ago. The Football Association have now confirmed the team’s squad numbers as preparations for the tournament take another step forward.
Despite the start of the tournament being less than a fortnight away, there are still one or two places up for grabs and the squad numbers are maybe an indication of which players could be handed starting roles. Rachel Daly has been handed the number three shirt on the back of a couple of solid performances in warm-up matches while Beth Mead has been given the number seven off the back of her Player of the Match showing against The Netherlands in Leeds on Friday. Georgia Stanway has taken the number 10 shirt, could this be an indication that she might be the preferred choice in the final midfield spot?
Of those players not included in one to 11, Fran Kirby will wear 14 while Chloe Kelly has been listed as number 18. Ella Toone has been given the number 20 shirt.
England complete their preparations for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 with their final warm-up fixture against Switzerland in Zürich on Thursday. The Lionesses will then turn their attentions to matches against Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland in the group stage of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.
