Ella Toone gave England a half-time lead, sweeping home a cutback by Lucy Bronze.

Lauren James did rifle the ball into the roof of the net but the flag was raised for offside.

Geyse saw her 20-yard effort tipped over the bar by Mary Earps, but substitute Andressa Alves levelled late on when a cross was not dealt with.

With a shoot-out then deciding the winner, Chloe Kelly converted the telling spot-kick.
