England completed their preparations for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 with a 7-0 victory over Jamaica in an international friendly at The King Power Stadium in Leicester this evening.

Ella Toone netted a brace while Lucy Bronze, Georgia Stanway, Alessia Russo, Aggie Beever-Jones and Beth Mead were also on target as the Lionesses made easy work of The Reggae Girlz.

England went close to breaking the deadlock in the opening five minutes but Jess Carter’s shot was kept out by visiting keeper Liya Brooks.

The Lionesses did open the scoring five minutes later when Toone took aim from 20 yards and picked out the corner of the Jamaican net.

The visitors thought that they had levelled matters when Kayla McKenna fired home from a corner kick but a teammate was deemed to be in an offside position and the goal was ruled out.

England then went up the other end and netted their second goal. Jess Carter crossed for Bronze who headed home from close range.

The Lionesses went close again on two occasions but both Lauren Hemp and Russo were denied by the woodwork. They did eventually get their third goal with Toone expertly curling the ball into the far corner in first half stoppage time.

England added to their lead on the hour mark. Stanway saw an effort saved by Brooks but the ball eventually found its way back to her feet and she rifled home with her second attempt.

Chelsea’s James was handed a long-awaited return soon after the fourth goal and she was instrumental in England’s fifth. She dinked the ball across the six-yard box for Russo to head in.

Stanway then fired narrowly wide before Brooks made an excellent save to deny substitute Beever-Jones another England goal. Beever-Jones did have her say when she guided the ball home for the Lionesses’ sixth goal five minutes from time.

There were hearts in mouths as Mead went down with an injury in second half stoppage time. She picked herself up and scored England’s seventh goal moments later, an indication that she’s okay.

After this evening’s result, England turn their attention towards Saturday’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 opener against France in Zürich.
