The second round of this Month’s international window takes place on Tuesday with friendlies involving some of Europe’s biggest names.
Here’s what went on.
Scorers: Watkins 30′, Sterling 45′, Mings 90+3.
A rampant England ended their international break with a convincing victory over Côte d’Ivoire who saw themselves reduced to 10-men before halftime.
Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham helped run a dominant first half for the hosts with Sterling putting the ball on a silver platter for Ollie Watkins to tap home his second international goal at the half-hour mark.
In a turbulent five minutes, Côte d’Ivoire found themselves reduced to 10-men and two goals down after Serge Aurier was given a second yellow card for dissent in the 40th minute.
Sterling then put the game beyond reach with a simple finish after being set up by his Man City team-mate Jack Grealish.
England chose to rotate in the second half leading to a more disjointed performance by the hosts but, with the man advantage, found their third goal through Tyrone Mings in the dying embers of the encounter.
Scorers: Müller 45+1′; Bergwijn 68′.
Germany were unable to find the winning goal as they faced up against their old rival Netherlands on Tuesday evening.
The visitors opened the score on the stroke of half-time through Thomas Müller. The German veteran was quickest to react to a loose ball in the box to fire home with his left foot after some slick combination play down the left wing.
Despite having a little less of the ball, the hosts still proved a threat throughout the encounter. Denzel Dumfries rose highest in the 68th minute to head the ball back into the six-yard area where Steven Bergwijn was on hand to rifle his shot into the roof of the net.
The Netherlands had a penalty appeal overturned in the 73rd minute when Memphis Depay was brought down in the box, but VAR determined the tackle was clean.
Scorers: Morata 36′, 39′ (PEN), Pino 47′, Sarabia 61′, 72′.
Luis Enrique’s side easily dispatched Iceland who were barely able to get a kick of the ball.
Juventus striker Alvaro Morata scored two quickfire goals to give the hosts a commanding lead at the break.
Unrelenting, Spain continued to push in the second half and goals from Yéremy Pino Pablo Sarabia, who also scored a barce, certified to result.
