Emblematic former manager Pablo Correa could be set for AS Nancy return in fourth tier | OneFootball

AS Nancy Lorraine were recently relegated to France’s fourth tier (National 2) but hopeful of a reprieve to maintain their status in the third division. The club, owned by Pacific Media Group and Chinese-American businessman Chien Lee, are hoping to restructure after the devastating descent into non-professional football.

The club has appointed Sébastien Janodet as its new president, succeeding Gauthier Ganaye. Additionally, according to Foot National, discussions are underway regarding the potential return of Pablo Correa, a former influential figure at the club, to join the management team. Janodet revealed that a director of football would soon be appointed, sparking speculation about Correa potentially taking up the position.

Correa managed the club in the 2000’s – joining whilst the club were in Ligue 2. During his tenure, the team made steady progress and finally won the Ligue 2 title in May 2005. The following season was also crowned with success, as Nancy stayed up in Ligue 1 with relative ease, winning a French League Cup in the process.

In an interview with L’Est Républicain, Sébastien Janodet expressed his pleasure at the prospect of working alongside Pablo Correa, an influential figure in AS Nancy Lorraine’s history. Janodet acknowledged their friendship and the possibility of Correa’s involvement in the club’s future, while noting that the final decision rests with the shareholders.

Janodet also emphasised the importance of Jacques Rousselot, the club’s former president (1994-2020), and his significant contributions to AS Nancy Lorraine. Janodet expressed his intention to meet and discuss with Rousselot, recognising the historical significance and continued impact of his predecessor.
