We’ve seen plenty of comings and goings at Anfield over the last few months as the new vision for Liverpool takes shape.

Michael Edwards is back under the FSG umbrella, now working as CEO of Football and he’s been joined in his return by former employees Julian Ward and David Woodfine.

Also coming to the club is Richard Hughes, the incoming sporting director while on Monday it was confirmed that Arne Slot would take over the head coach role.

That is an adjustment to Klopp’s job title - which was manager - representing FSG’s wishes to move forward with an altered structure around the club.

But the changes won’t end there.

Almost the entirety of Klopp’s backroom team has been cleared out with Pep Lijnders heading to RB Salzburg and plenty more departures already confirmed.

One man who will be staying on is Brazil’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper, Claudio Taffarel, who works in the goalkeeping department alongside compatriot Alisson Becker.

There is one more appointment the Reds are keen to make this summer however and the process has been kicked off quite democratically on LinkedIn.

So if you’ve got a UEFA A License (or equivalent) then you could be Liverpool’s new Set Piece Coach.

Premier League set-piece stats

Dead-ball situations accounted for 237 goals scored in the Premier League during the 2023-24 season and the Reds are seeking to make improvements in that area.

They managed 15 set-piece goals during the season - for a respectable fifth place on the list - but trail a long way behind department leaders Arsenal.

The Gunners have had a HUGE uplift in their set-piece output since appointing Frenchman Nicolas Jover in 2021.

Having previously worked with Montpellier, Croatia and Brentford, Jover met Mikel Arteta during their time together under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, with the Spaniard pleading with Arsenal to sign him after being made manager.

Arsenal’s goalscoring total from set pieces grew from five in 2020/21 to a Premier League-leading total of 20 last season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have hired Brentford’s specialist in the area, the Mexican Bernardo Cueva, paying a compensation fee of £1 million, underlining the marginal gains rsought by top sides in this area.

“We are looking for an UEFA A License (or equivalent) coach to join our First Team as a Set Piece Coach,” the job posting reads.

“In this role, you will be a tactical specialist responsible for maximising the team's performance in all set-piece situations. This involves thorough analysis, meticulous planning, and the ability to expertly coach both offensive and defensive set-piece strategies.”

Liverpool have previously sought gains from dead-ball situations under Jurgen Klopp, with the appointment of Dane Thomas Gronnemark as throw-ins coach back in 2018.
