Manager Carlos Corberan opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation. Forward Danny Ward led the line-up in the attack supported by Sinani and Abdulai at the midfield position.
The Terriers players occupied a lot of spaces near the central zones.
Forest lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation with forward Grabban leading the attack. He was backed by Johnson and Lolley.
Most of the Forest players sat in their own half. The team failed to push too high up the field.
Huddersfield Town marginally came out on top in the xG battle, with a narrow advantage. They had an xG of 0.88 over Forest’s 0.38. The Terriers stood out in having 69% of the game possession.
Lees and Turton led the xG chart with an xG of 0.30. Hogg made seven recoveries for his team.
The Terriers took a total of 10 shots, with most of their shots from inside the box.
Forest took six shots with three of them being on target.
The xT timeline shows both the teams being equally threatening. Grabban xG of 0.25 led his team to have an edge over Forest.
Lees attempted and received the most number of passes for his team.
Garner attempted 48 passes, while he also received the highest, 35.
Lees had the most pass outcome, 105, followed by Hogg’s 81. The team made passes from both the flanks.
Nottingham Forest pass zones indicate that Forest made some mere passes. Garner attempted the most number of crosses for Forest.
Colwill and Hogg had higher xT from passes with Lee completing 112 of his passes.
Colwill and Hogg also lead the xT from the dribbles chart while Sorba threatened the opponents with his dribbling skills.
Forest had more of the xT creation zones in the final third and the highest threat was created by Garner. He had a high xT of 0.206 from his passes.
Garner had a positive xT of 0.30 from his passes. Lolley impressed with his dribbling skills with an xT of 0.057.
The Terriers failed to win most of the defensive duels they attempted.
Lee won three of his four aerial duels while Hogg lost all his duels.
O’Brien lost four out of his five loose ball duels while the rest failed to win most of their duels.
Forest players saved a fair number of defensive duels however Yates lost six out of his 14.
Samba did not lose a single aerial duel while Worrall won two out of three of his duels.
Worrall won most of the loose ball duels followed by Grabban.
Nottingham Forest claimed their first Championship win of the season as they beat Huddersfield Town 2-0. Huddersfield Town was certainly a better team however the luck favoured the Reds.
