Chelsea host Aston Villa looking to progress into the last 16 of the League Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Blues will be buoyant from their 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend while Villa matched that scoreline when they hosted Everton.
Again with a 3-0 Chelsea beat Villa in early September at Stamford Bridge, a Romelu Lukaku brace and Mateo Kovacic strike proved Dean Smith’s men’s undoing that day however the line-ups are set to be different in this matchup.
It will be interesting to see how seriously Thomas Tuchel takes the League Cup especially after the positive start to the season that the Blues have made. Chelsea come in as overwhelming favourites but face a Villa who may prioritise the cup competitions a bit more now they are not expected to be involved in a relegation battle.

Team news
Chelsea have sailed through the opening stretch and only have two absentees for the knockout match with Edouard Mendy and Christian Pulisic set to miss out.
It is a different state of affairs for Villa who have not been as fortunate and are feeling the effects of their last match. Matty Cash, Matt Targett, John McGinn, Leon Bailey and Keinan Davis are all unavailable, Smith will be forced the shuffle his pack more than Tuchel as a result.
