It's been a disappointing 2023/24 campaign for Stoke City, and it's been no different for the club's striker Tyrese Campbell.

The 24-year-old has been in and out of the squad thanks to injury and has never really got going for the Potters even when fit. He hasn't been able to build on previous seasons where he's been a standout performer for the club.

It couldn't have come at a worse time for Campbell as his deal at The bet365 Stadium expires this summer, and with just two games remaining this season, he's yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

You'd have thought that the Potters' hierarchy would be keen to tie Campbell down long-term despite a frustrating campaign, and certainly wouldn't want to lose him for free.

The club turned down a bid of £850,000 from Hellas Verona in January, a decision they may regret if they're unable to agree fresh terms with Campbell in the near future.

Tyrese Campbell has struggled for Stoke City this season

Despite being the club's top scorer with nine goals last season, Tyrese Campbell has endured a miserable campaign this time around and has struggled to put a run of games together.

His lack of playing time is more down to his injury problems this season, rather than down to his performances, but those have been substandard by his expectations, too.

Campbell has scored just once this season, coming back in December in a 2-1 defeat away to Plymouth, and he's been unable to rediscover his scoring form as the season's progressed.

In his defence, he's been playing in a poor side that has been struggling towards the wrong end of the Championship table, but he'll still be disappointed by his return this season.

Despite this, the 24-year-old still has a big future in the game, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see a number of clubs interested in signing him this summer, if and when he becomes a free agent.

Plenty of clubs would be interested in signing Tyrese Campbell on a free transfer

Given the interest from the likes of Hellas Verona in January, there's no doubt that clubs would be keen on signing Tyrese Campbell this summer.

Despite a disappointing season, he's a player who has shown he can score goals in the past, and the 24-year-old has plenty of time to grow and develop in the right environment.

After the transfer window shut, it was reported in February that Scottish giants Rangers were keen on a summer move for Campbell when the summer window opens, and you feel as if a move to Ibrox could do the Stoke man a world of good.

It's not the first time the Scottish giants have been linked with Campbell, and they reportedly held talks over a move to Glasgow back in 2020, so it's clear that Rangers are long-term admirers of the striker.

With Campbell set to become a free agent this summer, it represents the perfect opportunity for Rangers to pounce and finally bring the player to Ibrox ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Rangers won't be alone in their interest, and there should be EFL clubs keeping a watchful eye on Campbell's situation as he's proven he could be a very useful player at Championship level.

Despite his form this season, signing the striker on a free transfer looks like good business, and there will likely be plenty of suitors for Campbell if he's on the market this summer.
