After FC Bayern’s 2-0 home defeat against Borussia Dortmund, Stefan Effenberg is harsh on the Munich players. The former FCB captain misses unity on the pitch.

Stefan Effenberg has clearly criticised the FC Bayern team after the home defeat against BVB. The 55-year-old is annoyed by the players‘ reaction to the imminent departure of coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. Effenberg said on Sport1’s „Doppelpass“ programme: „We know that Tuchel is leaving. But I don’t see that on the pitch. And that’s the big difference. That’s why I don’t think they’re a unit anymore. That’s why they have the problems they have.“

Effenberg cites Freiburg as a counter-example

Effenberg cited SC Freiburg as a counter-example. Here, too, the coach will leave the club at the end of the season. However, the players at SCF are not letting themselves down despite the imminent departure of Christian Streich, noted the former Bayern captain: „I’m taking a different team, but exactly the same situation: Freiburg. Christian Streich has said: ‚I’m ending my career at Freiburg in a few weeks in the summer How do the players react to that? ‚We have to give the coach back everything he’s done for this club and for us And they showed it yesterday in the game against Gladbach (3:0). That’s one answer.“

The other: That of the Munich players, who showed a lack of commitment in the home game against Dortmund and lost. Bayern are now 13 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga table. Even if it is still mathematically possible, Tuchel ticked off the championship after the game and congratulated Leverkusen on the title.

FCB’s best chance of winning another title is in the Champions League. Here they will face FC Arsenal in the quarter-finals.
