Former goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had a dream playing career, and he’s got the jerseys to show for it.
The Dutchman started his career with Ajax and went on to play for Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United before hanging up his gloves in 2011.
Now 49, Van der Sar is Ajax chief executive and he has recently been sharing photographs via his official Twitter account of some of his old jerseys, which he’s been wearing while working from home during the coronavirus pandemic.
And it sounds like he’s already in talks with adidas about the new Ajax kits for the 2021/22 season.
Van der Sar has also revealed why he wore number 19 when he joined Manchester United in 2005.
“Tim Howard had been in goal during the previous season and they brought me in as first goalkeeper,” he wrote on Twitter.
“But I didn’t want to take his number away from him. My spot between the sticks was most important.”

What a lovely man.
