Edin Terzić has signed a new contract to stay with Borussia Dortmund until 2025 but will not make up part of Marco Rose’s coaching staff.
He had been expected to work as a first team coach after leading the club to the DFB Pokal as interim head coach last season.
However, he will now take up the position of technical director and report directly to sporting director Michael Zorc and his replacement Sebastian Kehl.
As part of his new role, Terzić will be involved in squad planning, connecting with players Dortmund are interested in, looking after loanees and overseeing work done in the club’s academy.
“Bundling these topics together and approaching them in a way that is value to my club is what motivated me to take on the challenge,” Terzić explained.
“The idea arose in the course of our season analysis. Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc, Sebastian Kehl and I developed a profile and defined my area of responsibility.
“I can’t wait to begin.”
