The Eddie Howe Liverpool Press Conference has taken place.
The Newcastle United Head Coach speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday night’s match at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe and the players hoping to bounce back from that defeat to West Ham at St James’ Park and the draw at Crystal Palace, when NUFC struggled for goal threat.
Having had that trio of victories over Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest before the most recent international break.
Eddie Howe Liverpool press conference on Tuesday:
Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak and Dan Burn’s availability:
“Alex took a knock to his hip.
“We haven’t seen him in training yet but we don’t think it’s a long-term injury.
“Dan got through the game well.
“When he got suspended, we used that as an opportunity to look after his ankle and get himself fit.
“He was outstanding against Crystal Palace and he came through the game okay.”
Eddie Howe on the challenge Liverpool pose:
“Liverpool are very good, very strong – what a week they have had against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
“Players are playing well – we are going to need to put in a good defensive performance and pose them questions going forward as well.
“There is an excitement about the game, and to attack a game like this will be a brilliant thing.
“We have to bring our strengths, and our strengths are unique to us.”
On the Emirates FA Cup third round draw, home to League Two Bromley:
“It was great to see us get a home draw.
“It will be a great occasion but we will look forward to that when that comes around.”
Eddie Howe on the importance of creating the right environment for his side:
“It is about giving players the confidence, and making an environment so they can be comfortable and free.”
George Caulkin of The Athletic reporting on this Eddie Howe Liverpool press conference:
Some interesting NUFC lines from Eddie Howe this morning.
After 2 windows without strengthening team he says “the same squad can produce a staleness … a negative product. I think we’re aware of that.” Says “freshness is important” but Jan will be about “what we’re able to do rather than want.”
Consistency is obviously a problem for NUFC this season but what about consistency of attitude?
