EFL interview with Bradley Simpson – 18 December 2024:
Having performed in front of millions of fans around the world and selling out headline shows with The Vamps, Bradley Simpson is now channelling that star power into his debut solo album, ‘The Panic Years’.
Away from music, Bradley is a fan of Newcastle United and hopes the two-time finalists can go one step further and lift the trophy for the first time.
Why do you support your club?
“It’s in the family. My dad’s from Walker, my mum’s from Killingworth, so Newcastle’s always been part of my life. I didn’t go to many games as a kid, but the few I went to hooked me. The atmosphere at St James’ was unreal.”
What are your earliest memories following your team?
“Walking up to St James’ with my dad for my first game against Man City. We lost but I loved every second. I’d also watch old tapes of Newcastle highlights so it all just stuck with me.”
All-time favourite player?
“Alan Shearer, no doubt. I grew up watching his goals on VHS and I would love to play a round of golf with him. He’d thrash me, but it would be bucket list. Also, Nobby Solano was class, he was such a flair player.”
One to watch from the current squad?
“Lewis Miley. He’s got something special – calm, composed, and a really exciting player for the future.”
Carabao Cup Quarter-Final prediction?
“I used to live near Brentford’s ground and saw a few games there so I know what they are about, but I’m backing Newcastle to get the job done. We’ve got the momentum to see it through and Brentford have a tough game before.”
Who’s winning the Carabao Cup?
“Newcastle United. This feels like our year. Howay the lads!”
