Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has called for Manchester United to make an outrageous move for one of Liverpool’s underperforming stars.

United need to sell players to make signings required to give Erik ten Hag the best chance possible of improving results next season.

The Reds finished eighth in the Premier League last season and Ten Hag feared for his job. However, an FA Cup final triumph over Man City saved the Dutchman from the axe.

With the club trying to identify the best targets for the team, club legend Dwight Yorke has made an outrageous suggestion that United should sign Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 25-year-old has been heavily criticised for his performances over the past two seasons. On top of that, Gareth Southgate’s experiment to play him in midfield hasn’t gone to plan.

Yorke claims that should Alexander-Arnold become unhappy under Liverpool manager Arne Slot, United should look to sign him.

“I’m not sure Trent Alexander-Arnold would want to leave Liverpool as it’s his boyhood club, but Liverpool will be under transition now Jurgen Klopp has left,” Yorke told  Best Online Poker Sites, as per Liverpool World.

“Maybe Alexander-Arnold can evolve as a midfielder under Slot.

“This could be another opportunity where, if Liverpool don’t perform under Slot and Alexander-Arnold becomes unhappy, Man United should do everything they can to sign him.

“I was the first person to suggest that Man United should have signed Leroy Sane when he started to become frustrated at Man City when he was on the bench frequently. Now, he’s one of the best players in Germany. Alexander-Arnold may have a similar opportunity which Man United should pounce on.

“Obviously, there is history between the clubs and Alexander-Arnold will know that as an Englishman, but it can be an opportunity to look out for.”

Why on earth would United want a player who doesn’t quite cut the mustard at right-back (his preferred position) since he can’t defender, and a player who hasn’t proved himself in midfield?

It’s a no thanks from us. Let leave Liverpool deal with him.
